exactly as you described, signal before turn is ok. sometimes i'll have to re-signal during the turn because the turn is too long and it resets itself.
:If that works, and the blinker resets after completing the turn, then you are probably describing normal function. In most cars I've driven, when turning the wheel there is a point after which the turn signal lever won't lock because it's already past the engagement point. Besides, signals are usually more beneficial to others before you start turning.
